LA Police Chief Moore Sends In Formal Request To Serve Additional Term

Chief Michel Moore Seeks Reappointment as Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department
On December 26, 2022, the Board of Police Commissioners received a formal request from Police Chief Michel Moore for reappointment to a second, five-year term as Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department. The Chief’s current term ends on June 26, 2023.

Commission President William J. Briggs, II stated, “Chief Moore is an outstanding law enforcement executive who is recognized nationally for his expertise. He has guided the Department through unprecedented times and the Los Angeles Police Department remains the premier law enforcement agency in America thanks to his dedication. I am pleased that he has decided to seek reappointment after 40 years of dedicated service. The City and Department will greatly benefit from his continued stewardship of a critical component of public safety.”

The Commission will discuss Chief Moore’s request for reappointment with him. Those discussions will occur in closed session portions of the Commission’s public meetings. Prior to any final decision, there will be an opportunity for public comment.”
