Praying For Life At The U.S. Supreme Court

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Faith & Liberty partnered with over 30 other organizations to pray for life and usher in the first day of the 2021-2022 U.S. Supreme Court (SCOTUS) term at the “Praying for Life” event. The event took place on Saturday, October 2. More than 400 participants met in front of the High Court.

Faith & Liberty Vice President Peggy Nienaber and Faith & Liberty Vice President of Constituency Affairs Greg Cox were two of 15 attendees praying specifically over the SCOTUS justices, clerks, staff and all the officers who protect them on a daily basis.

The Women’s March “Rally for Abortion Justice” intentionally took place at the steps of the High Court as a distraction from the prayer event. However, the “Praying for Life” attendees focused on a time of worship through prayer and singing Christian songs.

Vice President of Faith & Liberty Peggy Nienaber said, “We believe prayer is the answer and we always pray the first day of the Supreme Court session. December 1, 2021, we will be back praying as the High Court hears Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.”

Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization is a challenge to a Mississippi law that prohibits abortion after 15 weeks. The justices will reexamine the viability standard decided in Roe v. Wade 48 years ago—a decision that has led to the death of over 62.5 million unborn babies.

Evangelical Minister and Pro-life Activist, Alveda King, who is the niece of Martin Luther King Jr., was one of the many who stood in front of the court and prayed. She said, “We are crying out for the babies. What you’ve done in Texas, do it across the country.”

Rev. King is one of many being represented by Liberty Counsel who is asking SCOTUS to end racist abortion eugenics. In July 2021, Liberty Counsel filed an amicus brief on behalf of a diverse group of organizations, churches, religious leaders, and individuals, including 70,000 African American and Hispanic churches and millions of African Americans and Hispanic Americans across the United States, who are asking the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade because legalized abortion is unconstitutional, violates the right to life and supports racist eugenics.

Faith & Liberty is America’s premier Christian outreach to top-level government officials in Washington, D.C. Faith & Liberty accomplishes its mission through building personal relationships with individuals serving in government, distributing Scripture and informative materials, and staging special events and Bible studies.
