The Right Arm Of The Free World

Written by Marc Kelley
As I have gotten older, life’s pleasures have become simpler, but far more cherished. Forty years ago when we moved into our home in Billings, we were the young people in a neighborhood filled with retired residents and very few children. Rarely a day would pass in which I would not exchange casual hello’s, or a simple wave with Mr. Woods, the old man who lived next door. Over the years I learned Mr. Woods was a retired Fireman, who brewed his own beer, enjoyed tobacco in all of its forms, and loved to dress up at Halloween to scare the kids, only then to fill their pillowcases with candy.

Over the years the quiet neighborhood has experienced a great deal of change. As the older folks passed away and their homes were sold or rented, the streets became busier, a little less safe, and the days of knowing everyone on the block slowly faded away. The neighborly waves and smiles were replaced by anonymous faces which neither spoke, nor acknowledged the community in which they were living. Then COVID hit, and once again the neighborhood changed. People who were not working and had become fed up with staring at the four walls of their homes, began sitting outside on their porches, smelling the fresh air, and enjoying the warm sun on their faces. People who had never spoken to one another, slowly began conversing with neighbors, feeling safe from the distance which the street provided.

Once again, we began to speak to one another, check on each other, and exchange the small talk once believed to be lost to a forgotten time, and replaced by the insidious text message. Of course the kids were not in school during COVID and they were unable to see their friends, so they too began seeking the company of others living within a few doors of home. Older kids began including the younger kids, throwing a football, riding their skateboards, and of course regaling their new found friends with their latest video game exploits. I was now the old man sitting on my porch, drinking coffee, and observing the next generation as they struggled to gain their own identity. And just as kids do, they slowly found the courage to say hello, tell me their names, and ask in return for mine. They became comfortable talking to me and I enjoyed knowing where each child lived and the things they enjoyed doing.
As the COVID panic slowly passed and life began its new normal, the kids continued to play with their new found friends in the neighborhood. It was not long before people once again felt comfortable gathering and socializing. Human beings are social by nature and the effects of the lockdowns had taken a real toll on far too many of our friends and family. Believing in the concept of offering solutions to a problem rather than dwelling on all of the reasons not to act, we began to talk about what we could do to help the situation. As the weather warmed and more and more people ventured out, we agreed, what everyone needed was a chance and a reason to come together, and find the company of others, which had been absent for far too long.

Recognizing this as the first opportunity to hold an event for the people who had supported Marc Arms throughout the pandemic, we set about our planning. An opportunity to say thank you and acknowledge as scary as COVID was, we would not let that fear rule our actions. We held the First Annual Marc Arms Swap Meet & BBQ and I made a special point of telling the kids in the neighborhood to ask their parents if they could stop by and get a hotdog and a soda. When the day of the event arrived and people began showing up, so did the kids, many with their parents in tow.
Perhaps it was learning that I was a retired nurse, or after conversing with many of the people who had come to the event, the neighborhood perception of who I was and what I do for a living began to change. Virtually overnight the neighborhood perception changed from my being the grumpy old man who owns too many guns, and flies an American Flag in my front yard, to a fellow human being, who loves our country and the freedoms we enjoy. As the neighbors stopped by to say thank you, I told them stories about the people who first lived in the structures they now call home, who they were, how they lived, and how they loved the neighborhood.
As I told stories I noticed a young man of about ten talking with his Mom, then looking over at me, then turning to talk with her again. Finally I heard her tell him, “well go ask him, it’s alright, he’ll talk to you.” The boy walked straight up to me and said “do you know what a FAL rifle is? I like to play Call of Duty and I always use the FAL when I play”. Clearly the boy had an interest in learning more about the rifle and believing knowledge should be passed from one generation to the next, I responded. “Yes sir, I do know a little bit about that rifle, would you like me to tell you about it?” As the young boy and his Mother sat in the shop I explained the FAL is a military rifle designed to fight the Russians during the Cold War.

I went on to tell the boy about how the rifle worked and about its rich history fighting for freedom around the world. I explained the rifle was known as, “The Right Arm of The Free World” and how it has been used In over 90 countries around the globe by people defending their freedom from those who wanted to take it from them. I explained to the boy how guns are neither good nor bad, but rather they are simply tool’s which must be respected and never be considered to be a toy.
FAL GUN
When I had finished telling the boy about his beloved FAL, his Mother spoke up. “Thank you for taking time to teach my son about the rifle, he loves “Call of Duty,” and I never realized he could learn history from playing that game. You have not only taught my son more about guns than I ever could, you taught me to see them in a different light. You are right… guns are neither good nor bad and what is important is the person using it”.
Guns speak a universal language and depending upon your point of view, it is easy to fall into the trap of repeating the talking points so readily polished by the liberal media who in reality, know nothing more about firearms, than they do of history. As our world becomes ever increasingly violent, the cries of “we have a gun problem in our country” become more and more frequent. This statement, in and of itself is based on the flawed premise, the person behind the gun is not the problem, but rather the problem is the gun itself. Unless we are willing to invest our time and teach our children about gun safety and the history guns have played in our country, nothing will change, and we will continue to mourn the loss of innocent lives. If we take the time to teach our kids about guns and instill in them the respect firearms demand, we can slowly begin to change the damage brought about by the cesspool of Social Media and the psychological destruction of our most precious resource.
These things I believe with all of my heart… but, who am I to say… I’m just an old man… sitting on his porch… drinking coffee… and watching the world go by.

The Wyoming State Republican Party released this statement today.

Cheyenne, WY – Today, Dr. Thomas Kelly withdrew from the State Superintendent of Public Instruction race.

“To everyone who has supported me, ‘thank you’ falls short, but know this. We did successfully direct the narrative not only of the Superintendent race, but other statewide races. We sounded the alarm on federal incursion into the Wyoming way of life, and other candidates have picked up that mantle to carry forward,” wrote Dr. Kelly. “Because of my reverence for individual liberty, freedom of thought, and free association, I respect how anyone chooses to vote going forward. That said, I cast my vote today for Superintendent Brian Schroeder.”

Superintendent of Public Instruction, Brian Schroeder

In response, Superintendent Brian Schroeder commented, “Thomas Kelly is a good man. I was honored to work this campaign with him, and I am beyond honored to have his vote today. As a force in this campaign, he was not only principled, honest, and courageous, he also effectively advanced the conservative cause.”

Falling short of a formal endorsement Kelly has done Schroeder a big favor. He has made it a race between a seasoned conservative Christian educator with principles and Megan.

Is Wyoming District 24 Sandy Newsome Scared?

The “Friends of Sandy Newsome” AKA Cody Redcoats are spreading more hate. A recent apology by the Secretary of the Park County Republican Party addressed a non-intentional mistake made in a purely informational email. The email contained a reprint of the WyoRINO.com report that held that Noisome was at a 10% performance rating for voting against Wyoming conservatism, rather than the correct 30% number. It was a mistake that happened in transferring files, a computer glitch. Nothing was done intentionally. Well, you’d have thought the “Friends” had been slandered beyond measure and maybe someone ought to be strung up vigilante style. Makes one wonder if they don’t have some old back woods lawyer politician in their midst giving counsel.

Here’s the thing. Noisome’s record is an appalling failure either way you look at it. 10% or 30%, what’s the difference? When I went to school, 59% is an “F”, and 200% more should be 100% more.

Owing Noisome’s dreadful voting record (with Democrats most of the time,) her “Friends” spreading vicious lies in the media and putting up twice as many signs and billboards in District 24, one would think she’s scared of losing.

Well, are you Sandy? You oughta be.

Latest News On The Lizard

Liz Cheney “Fake Representative”

We didn’t need any more reasons to not watch “Yellowstone” (the itsy bitsy mini-series), but we have one now. Kevin Costner just announced his support of the Lizard. In a Tweet from her highness the Lizard said, “Real men put country over party.” Does that then make her a real woman? She doesn’t identify as a Patriot, Wyomingite or an American? What a bunch of Barbara Streisand!

Fake Men

So now the Lizard is slamming most men in Wyoming as non-men? Great. Keep it coming Elizabeth. Your disintegration is breath taking. Can’t get support from your own Wyoming constituents, your daddy’s too old, frail and forgotten to be any good for you (he was a loser anyway) and you know, deep in what heart you have left, that the Dems are sucking you dry for what they can and will dump you in the end. Must be lonely at the bottom.

On a brighter note. Although a little late, the Appomattox County Republican Committee in the State of Virginia has censured the Lizard. After a bunch of “Where ases” they got to the point;

BE IT RESOLVED that the Appomattox County Republican Committee CENSURE Representative Liz Cheney for her actions as Vice Chair of the egregious and flagrantly unconstitutional January 6th Select Committee; for her continued actions, statements, and highly objectionable personal behavior since her vote to impeach President Donald J. Trump; and her current pursuit of re-election as a Republican even though she has been formally rejected by the Wyoming Republican Party and formally censured by the Republican National Committee.

If you would like to let Paramount know how much you are impressed with Costner’s antic’s maybe you would like to let them know. Contact Us | Paramount.

If you want to congratulate the Appomattox Republicans, here’s their web page Appomattox County Republican Committee Business Meeting – Republican Party of Virginia and email info@virginia.gop

The Wyoming Laramie Range fire called the Sugarloaf Fire continues to burn uncontrolled. So far, the fire has grown to 600 acres. The fire is located in Northern Albany County. The effects of the smoke have spread clear into Montana and Idaho.

Fire Suppression crews have told the Wyoming News reporters that the Sugarloaf fire is about 8 miles Southwest of the Laramie Peak and about 5 to 6 miles Southwest of the Friend Park Campground and 25 miles Northwest from the city of Wheatland, Wyoming.

Smoke from the Sugarloaf Fire is dense causing air quality to be dangers for those who have breathing issues

The Containment efforts continue to progress as the Rocky Mountain Complex Incident Management Team #3 has indicated to Wyoming News reporters that about 20% of the fire is contained, but they have a long way to go to extinguish it. About 500-man crews are battling the blaze that appears to have been set by a human.

No more information is available as to whether the fire was intentionally set, an accident, or a campfire that was not put out properly.

The hot weather and winds have caused the fire to spread rapidly making it hard to battle the flames as they are moving at a good pace.

Ed Buchanan’s a Happy Man

—Thanks Mark—

July 30, 2022 (Cheyenne, Wyoming – News release from the governor’s office)

Governor Mark Gordon appointed Wyoming Secretary of State Ed Buchanan to be a District Court Judge for the Eighth Judicial District serving Goshen County. Secretary Buchanan will remain in office to fulfill his forthcoming duties and ensure a smooth transition before taking the bench.

“Goshen County is once again fortunate to have had outstanding candidates for this judgeship,” Governor Gordon said. “Ed has served the state admirably and honorably as Secretary for more than four years. His extensive legal background, his compassion for those in his community, and his passion for the law and our justice system will serve him well as a District Court judge in this next chapter of his public service career.”

“I am honored and humbled to receive this appointment from Governor Gordon,” Secretary Buchanan said. “I look forward to serving the citizens of the Eighth Judicial District and will work diligently to uphold the high standards of the judiciary.”

“It is a privilege to serve Wyoming and my fellow elected officials as Secretary of State. I would like to assure our citizens that I am committed to fulfilling my duties prior to assuming the bench, both to ensure a smooth and secure election cycle and to finalize the many projects integral to the office,” the Secretary added.

I saw this coming as soon as Boochanan announced that he would not be running for a second term as Secretary of State. So the nepotism and payoffs continue in the Cheyenne Swamp. Now Boochanan, who has worked his fingers to the bone for the good citizens of Wyoming for four whole years as Secretary of State, will reap the benefits of his labor. District Judges make between $151,000.00 and $172,000.00 per year for life…on the tax payers’ dimes. Ed can rest easy now, especially since he has done such a masterful con job of trying to convince the Wyoming electorate that their electronic voting machines are iron clad, fool proof and honest. We all know that.

He is in an even more powerful position now, from the bench, to ensure “smooth and secure election cycles” and maybe kick out any case that might promote the use of hand counting of ballots or the outing of electronic voting machines that Wyomingites do not trust.

Thanks Mark.

Judge Says, Christian Flag Can And Will Be Flown At Boston City Hall Plaza’s Public Forum Flagpole.

BOSTON, MA – This Wednesday, August 3 at 11 a.m. ET, the Christian flag will finally be raised on the Boston City Hall Plaza public forum flagpole. The policy stated the flagpole was open to all applicants, but the City of Boston denied Hal Shurtleff’s application to briefly raise the flag during an event for Constitution Week hosted by Camp Constitution. The sole reason for the denial was that the application form referred to the flag as a “Christian” flag. Had the application used any word other than “Christian,” the City of Boston would have granted the application.
On May 2, 2022, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 9-0 that Boston’s denial of the flag was unconstitutional viewpoint discrimination under the First Amendment Free Speech Clause.
In Shurtleff v. City of Boston, Liberty Counsel represents Boston resident Hal Shurtleff and his Christian civic organization, Camp Constitution. There are three flagpoles outside City Hall that fly the U.S., Massachusetts and Boston flags, plus a fourth flag on Congress Street, which runs parallel to City Hall. For 12 years from 2005-2017, Boston approved 284 flag-raisings by private organizations with no denials on the flagpoles that it designated as a “public forum.” However, the city official denied Camp Constitution’s application in 2017 to fly the Christian flag on Constitution Day. Boston approved 39 private flag-raising events, which averaged three per month. In 2018, Boston approved 50 private flag raising events, averaging nearly one per week. One included a flag of a private credit union.
In this historic unanimous decision, the High Court wrote that “Boston did not make the raising and flying of private groups’ flags a form of government speech. That means, in turn, that Boston’s refusal to let Shurtleff and Camp Constitution raise their flag based on its religious viewpoint ‘abridg[ed]’ their ‘freedom of speech.’”
The historic ceremony on Wednesday will include the flag raising with Hal Shurtleff and Liberty Counsel Founder and Chairman Mat Staver. Other speakers include Rev. Steve Craft, who is originally from Sudan, Pastor William Levi (Operation Nehemiah Missions), Pastor Earl Wallace (Liberty Christian Fellowship), Historian Richard Howell, and Jonathan Alexandre (Liberty Counsel). There also will be special music.
The event will also be live-streamed on Liberty Counsel’s Facebook page. Liberty Counsel is a news partner with Wyoming News.
