LEESBURG, FLORIDA – March 31, 2022 – An uplifting film for the whole family and based on a true story, NO VACANCY follows a jaded reporter demoted to a rural news bureau who finds her cynicism slowly transformed as she befriends a recovering addict and writes about a church struggling to purchase a motel for homeless families.

Starring Sean Young (DUNE, BLADE RUNNER), T.C. Stallings (COURAGEOUS, WAR ROOM) and Dean Cain (GOD’S NOT DEAD, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman), NO VACANCY premieres May 9 in more than 700 cinemas nationwide for one night only.

“In a time of bitter division and acrimony in our country, our creative team thought it was an appropriate time to release a movie based on the true story of a community coming together in a literally miraculous way,” said Art Ayris, CEO of Kingstone Studios, which produced the film. “The Orlando ABC affiliate had previously done eight feature stories plus M6 in France and Japan’s Nippon television had all journeyed to Florida to do stories. We realized this was a story with appeal far beyond central Florida and needed to be told in a way that only a motion picture can communicate. Though the movie has a few fictional components and characters, it is closely based on the true story,” Ayris added.

Distributed by Fathom Events, NO VACANCY is directed by Kyle Saylors. His documentary KIMJONIGILA was the first film ever screened at the U.S. Capitol private theater and led to a congressional hearing and the first sanctions against the North Korean prison camps.

NO VACANCY is written by Ayris, whose production credits include Best TV Movie Hollywood’s Next Success contest; Best Feature Florida Film & Television; Best Feature Angel Awards, graphic adaptation, for SONY Affirm theatrical release The Remaining; and over 60 comic, animation and film credits. Ayris served as executive editor of the Kingstone Bible, which was a finalist for Christian Book of the Year in the Children’s Category.

FILM SYNOPSIS
News reporter Brandi Michaels finds the 2007 economic and housing collapse in central Florida an apt metaphor for her turbulent life. If a looming divorce and her mother’s Alzheimer’s were not enough, her journalistic dreams are devastated when she is demoted from Orlando to a rural outpost. But when her editor sends Brandi to cover a story on a church struggling to purchase a motel for homeless families during the Great Recession, she finds her cynical news persona challenged as she encounters Cecil, a winsome former drug addict, and sees for herself the selfless and epic struggle of the church as it seeks to take care of the homeless in their community. Her coverage of the story eventually helps the church overcome the opposition to acquire the motel and also plays a role in Brandi’s personal redemption as she witnesses first-hand the stories of all those involved. Her article becomes an award-winning piece, serving as a catalytic model to helping homeless families in other communities, and gives her the journalistic impact she had craved all along. Based on the true story of First Baptist Leesburg, Cecil Johnson and the Samaritan Inn.

First Baptist Leesburg’s story has been featured in several documentaries including 2018’s COME ALIVE. The Samaritan Inn is a real motel converted into use for homeless families that stays full every night of the year.

Split Vote to Advance Bedoya Nomination Underscores Republicans

0
The Committee for Justice released the following statement by its director of public policy, Ashley Baker, on the Senate’s tie vote today — broken by the Vice President — to advance the nomination of Alvaro Bedoya to the Federal Trade Commission:

The Senate’s 50-50 vote, along party lines, to advance President Biden’s nomination of Alvaro Bedoya to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) says less about Senate Republicans’ views on Bedoya as a nominee than it does about their view of the FTC. The vote stands in stark contrast to the 69-28 confirmation of Lina Khan as an FTC Commissioner less than a year ago and officially indicates a consensus among Republican Senators that they are wary of the Commission’s agenda and ability to overreach.

They have good reason to be wary. Under President Biden and Chair Khan, the FTC has spent much of its time attempting to implement a far-left agenda by knocking down procedural guardrails, issuing a strategic plan to promote values such as “racial equity”, introducing unrelated issues such as climate risk into merger review, and undermining constitutional due process, all while spending very little time actually doing its job of enforcing our competition laws.

Today’s vote indicates that Senate Republicans have not forgotten that they were deliberately misled by the White House and their Democratic colleagues into believing that Lina Khan would not be the chair of the Commission if confirmed. Once confirmed, the administration pulled a bait-and-switch and immediately appointed Khan as chair. Nor have Republicans forgotten that after former-Commissioner Rohit Chopra’s confirmation as chair of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), he continued to cast tie-breaking votes—what some have called zombie votes—at the FTC.

Republican opposition and the resulting six-month long 2-2 deadlock at the FTC created by Senate inaction on Bedoya’s nomination was not enough to rein in a runaway FTC.
Eventually, it may be that it will be left to the courts to do so. Until then, the Federal Trade Commission appears to be well-insulated against any meaningful form of Congressional oversight.

Shot Mandates Continue To Crumble In Many Courts

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On September 9, 2021, Joe Biden signed an executive order attempting to illegally force COVID shots on more Americans, including federal employees, all private employers with 100 or more employees, health care workers, educators and even children.

The courts recognize the constitutional protections against these lawless mandates and are striking them down one by one. For example, here’s the various courts’ recent actions:

• 11-30-21 – Judge Gregory F. Van Tatenhove (KY) grants preliminary injunction against mandate for federal contractors in KY, OH, TN.
• 12-7-21 – Judge Stan Baker (GA) grants nationwide injunction against mandate for federal contractors in GA, AL, ID, KS, SC, UT, WV.
• 12-15-21 Judge Dee Drell grants preliminary injunction regarding contracts and grants with the states of IN, LA, MS.
• 12-20-21 – Judge David Noce (MO) grants preliminary injunction against mandate for federal contractors in AK, AR, IA, MO, MT, NE, NH, ND, SD, WY.
• 12-22-21 – Judge Steven Merryday (FL) grants preliminary injunction against mandate for federal contractors in FL.
• 12-31-21 – Judge James Wesley Hendrix (TX) issues preliminary injunction against Head Start shot mandate in TX.
• 1-1-22 – Judge Terry A. Doughty (LA) grants preliminary injunction against Head Start mandate in AL, AK, AZ, AR, FL, GA, LA, IN, IA, KS, KY, MS, MO, MT, NE, ND, OH, OK, SC, SD, TN, UT, WV, WY.
• 1-13-22 – The U.S. Supreme Court (6-3) issues a stay against OSHA mandates. OSHA has now repealed the mandate.
• 1-21-22 – Judge Jeffrey Brown (TX) grants preliminary injunction against mandate for federal workers nationwide.

Liberty Counsel has filed class action lawsuits in Illinois, Maine and New York on behalf of health care workers who have been unlawfully denied religious accommodation and fired from their jobs. The Maine case is pending before the U.S. Supreme Court and Liberty Counsel is asking the High Court to take the case for a full review of the merits.

Liberty Counsel recently filed a renewed motion for a preliminary injunction in Navy SEAL 1 v. Biden asking Judge Steven Merryday to block the mandates for plaintiffs from all five branches of the military, federal employees, and federal civilian contractors who have been unlawfully mandated to get the COVID shots or face discharge from the military or termination from employment. Liberty Counsel also filed an Amended Complaint adding (1) additional military and federal employee plaintiffs, (2) expanded legal arguments against the mandate for federal civilian contractors, (3) expanded legal arguments against the mandate for federal employees, and (4) the new data submitted by the military branches on January 7, 2022, which substantiates the argument that the military under the Department of Defense (DOD) is not giving any religious exemptions.

As a result of this lawsuit, federal Judge Steven Merryday ordered each branch of the military to file a detailed report every 14 days beginning January 7, 2022, regarding the total number of religious exemption requests; the aggregate number of denials, denials where belief found sincere, appeals pending, denials where appeal time has passed and number of successful appeals; the total number of medical exemptions; other exemptions granted and the number of disciplinary proceedings and actions taken after denial in an appeal. The order also stated that the federal executive orders regarding federal employees and civilian contractors expressly require religious exemption. The filings reveal that the military continue to deny religious exemptions.

While the Supreme Court upheld Biden’s shot mandate for health care businesses that receive Medicare and Medicaidfunds, the Court also noted the law provides that employees are entitled to medical and religious exemptions.

Liberty Counsel Founder and Chairman Mat Staver said, “The shot mandates of Joe Biden and his administration are being blocked by the federal courts. Biden has no authority to issue unlawful shot mandates requiring people to inject their bodies with the COVID shots. It’s a matter of time before even more courts rule against this administration’s agenda to force people to choose between their livelihood and religious beliefs and injecting an experimental drug into their bodies. These mandates are causing irreparable harm, and, thankfully, they are quickly crumbling in the courts.” Liberty Counsel is a public law firm and a news partner with the Wyoming News.

Wyoming AG Failed To Sign On Board With Montana AG Knudsen

HELENA — In response to the alarming increase of drug overdose deaths around the country, Attorney General Austin Knudsen and attorneys general from 15 other states are calling on the Biden administration to take a tougher stance against the influx of fentanyl that is produced on an industrial scale in Mexico from Chinese-made materials before its smuggled into the United States.

In a recent letter to U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, the attorneys general outlined their concerns about the production and distribution of the dangerous drug and urged him to protect American families and communities with a “fulsome and urgent response to this escalating plague killing our people every day.”

“The Biden administration’s handling of the border crisis enables Chinese chemical manufacturers and Mexican drug cartels to cause and profit from fentanyl addiction and the resulting deaths of Americans,” Attorney General Knudsen said. “Montana law enforcement can’t be everywhere at once – we need the federal government to secure our borders and demand the governments of China and Mexico stop this poison from reaching our country.”
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that fentanyl and other synthetic opioids killed 64,178 Americans between May 2020 and April 2021, an increase of more than 25,000 deaths from 2019. In that time, fentanyl overdoses have become the leading cause of death for American adults ages 18-45.

Montana has not been immune. Montana Department of Justice State Crime Lab reported a 116 percent increase in fentanyl-related deaths in our state from 2019 to 2020. Earlier this week, emergency medical teams had to revive nine people in Lewis and Clark County who had overdosed on heroin believed to be laced with fentanyl within 48 hours, the sheriff’s office reported.

Historically, fentanyl was made in China and shipped directly to the United States. Following pressure from the federal government, China began taking action against illicit fentanyl manufacturing within its borders in 2019. However, Chinese chemical manufacturers ended up diverting precursor chemicals to other countries, including Mexico.
In China, perpetrators caught mislabeling precursor shipments often face only civil penalties and small fines rather than criminal charges, according to the U.S. Department of State. Insufficient oversight of the chemical manufacturing industry and government corruption are also enabling the illicit fentanyl trade to flourish.
Fentanyl is entering the United States from Mexico in alarming quantities. While seizures of fentanyl directly shipped from China to the United States shrunk dramatically from over 128 kilograms seized in 2017 to less than half a kilogram in 2020. Seizures of fentanyl at the border increased from approximately 1,187 kilograms in 2019 to approximately 2,939 kilograms in 2020.

“The Department of State must act. Our States depend on the federal government and the Department to represent the vital interests of our people to foreign governments. The Department must make it plain to China that the country is not doing enough. Though China may have taken some initial steps to address domestic production of fentanyl itself, it has turned a blind eye as its citizens have forged an international triangle of death with Mexico,” the coalition of attorneys general wrote to Blinken. “Mexico must likewise be pressured to take swift and forceful action against the cartels that are producing finished fentanyl and trafficking this poison across the border into our country. The Mexican government’s negligence in permitting the erection of industrial scale manufacturing of fentanyl is inexcusable.”

Attorney General Knudsen signed the letter with his colleagues from West Virginia, Arizona, Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Texas.

Officer Involved Shooting In Gillette Wyoming Wild West Day Style

Gillette Wyoming, Police responded to a call of a man inside a home who allegedly had a large edged weapon, however this is not confirmed what the weapon was that the man had in his possession.

At about 7 in the morning, Gillette police responded to the residence where the suspect was making verbal threats and refused to leave the home according to police reports.

As officers arrived at the Gillette home, officers gave verbal commands for the man to drop his weapon. Officers barked at the man, “drop the weapon.” The man in question did not comply with the officer’s order and continued in his negative behavior pattern.

According to the Gillette Police Department, a “less lethal” attempt was made to disarm the male suspect, but the suspect retreated further into the home where officers did not have sight of the suspect at that point and time. The Gillette Police Department did not tell the media what form of a less that lethal option that they attempted.

Gillette Police claimed that the armed man attempted to “charge and swing at the officers on scene.” “Swinging his weapon at the officers.”

Two Gillette police officers immediately fired their service revolvers using the double tap method, striking and killing the man. Multiple shots were fire. The male suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene of the officer involved shooting. The Gillette Police department called the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation in to investigate the officer involved shooting.
